Trending measures rate of change in attention, not merit and not volume. A peptide can trend while grading E, and that combination means exactly what it looks like.

10 peptides have a computed signal and none is displayed. Every one is suppressed for partial baseline.
Rate of change is only meaningful against a baseline of the same depth for every peptide and every source. The requirement is a uniform 12-month backfill. What the collectors actually obtained: GDELT and the Reddit archive returned a recent suffix rather than the full year for every peptide, and YouTube search cannot be backfilled uniformly at all — a search costs 100 units of a 10,000-unit daily quota and the launch peptides return tens of thousands of matches per year.
Comparing a peptide with 90 days of history against one with 12 months makes the first look like it is exploding. Better to show trending for none than wrong trending for ten.

How it is computed
A composite of rate-of-change signals over 7 days against a trailing 90-day baseline: mention velocity weighted by source authority, new literature, regulatory activity, and vendor activity. Absolute volume is not an input — a peptide that is always discussed a great deal is not trending.
- New voices are quarantined. A voice first seen inside the current window does not contribute to velocity, because the cheapest way to manufacture a trend is to create accounts.
- Video mentions are excluded from the signal even though they are collected and displayed, because their archive depth is not uniform and never will be within the free quota.
- Every trending state resolves to a stated, linked cause — “3 new podcast mentions this week”, “FDA guidance updated” — or it does not display. A badge with no reason attached is noise dressed as a signal.
- Trending never renders above the evidence grade on any page. It is attention data and it is placed where attention data belongs.
